Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began an education in marine science at Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Bossard got her start working in the commercial seafood sector in the year 1999. In that year she was employed in Murat Aritan's halibut 65 feet vessel, transformed into a fish tender. Bossard and Aritan are now married and have joined forces in claiming their share of their respective industries. They are both in favor of conservative and profitable management of sustainable seafood resources. Otolith is a direct wholesale seafood retailer, was founded on the 7th of July 2007 Bella Bossard (age 3), Andre Bossard (1 year old) and the Bossard's mother. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia after having two young children. Its name is an affectionate reference to her deep expertise in fish biology as well as her husband's extensive involvement in the seafood industry often keeping them apart for 5 months or more at a time when they are focused on their economic and environmental objectives that reflect both their independence and determination to serve their communities wherever they reside. Bossard and their son Andre and Isabella, her daughter Isabella will be returning back to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands in the harvest of wild salmon. For two months, Bossard and her daughter Isabella use hooks & lines to fish for the salmon they want to catch. Aritan will then sell their catch locally to processors.
